Is Goose Allergy acquired from the air?
Yes, goose allergy can be acquired from the air. Goose proteins, or the allergens that trigger the allergy, come from the feathers and dried feces of the goose. These proteins, just like trees and grass pollens, are considered to be airborne and can trigger allergy. In addition, most of these allergens are using our respiratory system (the nose, larynx, bronchial tubes, and nasal passageway) to enter our body.

There is an available vaccine used to stimulate the body’s immune response against goose allergy. It prevents and controls the symptoms or other probable infections that may result from such allergy. This vaccine is given through series of allergy shots to desensitize your body from specific allergens that causes goose allergy. It is also known as immunotherapy.
Just like any other type of vaccines, allergy shots are also given in schedule. Typically, an injection is given once or twice a week for about three to six months duration. In this period, the allergen dose is gradually increased with each injection. This helps the body tolerate such allergens and at the same time reducing the effects of symptoms of allergy.
